Finding the right spare parts in Kigali can mean calling shop after shop, sending photos back and forth and still getting the wrong part. Send us your car's make, model, year and chassis number with the part you need, and we find it, confirm whether it is genuine or aftermarket, give you the price and arrange delivery or fitting. One request, one clear answer.
Parts we commonly source
| Category | Examples | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Service parts | Oil, air, fuel and cabin filters, spark plugs, belts, wiper blades | Cheap, and changed often on dusty roads |
| Brakes | Pads, discs, drums, shoes, brake fluid | Safety critical: choose genuine or a known brand |
| Suspension and steering | Shock absorbers, bushes, ball joints, tie rod ends, CV joints | Worn quickly by rough roads and speed bumps |
| Engine and cooling | Radiators, water pumps, thermostats, sensors, gaskets | Match the exact engine code |
| Electrical | Batteries, alternators, starters, bulbs, fuses | Check voltage and terminal layout |
| Body parts | Mirrors, lights, bumpers, grilles, panels | Colour matching is done at the body shop |
| Tyres | Saloon, SUV and 4x4 sizes, all terrain options | Read the size off the sidewall |

Genuine, OEM or aftermarket?
| Type | What it means | When it makes sense |
|---|---|---|
| Genuine | Made for and sold by the car maker, in its packaging | Safety parts, newer cars, warranty work |
| OEM equivalent | Made by the same supplier that makes the genuine part, sold under its own brand | Good quality at a lower price |
| Quality aftermarket | Made by a reputable independent brand | Service parts and older cars |
| Used (salvage) | Taken from another vehicle | Body panels or hard to find parts, after inspection |
Your quote always names the type and brand, so you can compare like with like.
Price is not the only difference. A cheap filter that clogs early or a brake pad that glazes on Kigali's long descents costs more in the end. For older cars that you plan to keep for a year or two, good aftermarket parts are often the sensible middle ground, while genuine parts make sense for newer cars, hybrids and anything under warranty.
Toyota spare parts in Kigali
Toyota is the most common make in Rwanda, including the Corolla, Axio, Premio, Vitz, RAV4, Noah, Prado, Land Cruiser, Hilux and Fortuner, so most parts are easy to find. Toyota Rwanda runs its main operation in Karuruma, Gasabo, and in late December 2025 it named ATECAR Garage in Gahanga, Kicukiro, as its first Team Toyota Garage partner, aimed at giving owners of used Toyotas access to genuine parts and maintenance. Toyota Rwanda also has an authorised service centre in Musanze for drivers in the north.
We also source parts for Suzuki, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Volkswagen and other makes found on Rwandan roads.
How to identify the right part
Wrong parts usually come from missing details. Before you order:
- [ ] Find the chassis number (VIN) on the registration card (yellow card) or the plate under the windscreen or in the door frame.
- [ ] Note the engine code and whether the car is petrol, diesel or hybrid.
- [ ] Check whether the car is a local version or an import from Japan, the UK or the Gulf, since parts can differ.
- [ ] Take a photo of the old part, including any numbers stamped on it.
- [ ] For tyres, copy the size from the sidewall, for example 225/65 R17.
Signs of a counterfeit part
Counterfeit parts turn up in every market, and they can cost almost as much as the real thing. Be careful when you see:
- A price far below what other sellers ask for the same brand.
- Blurry printing, spelling mistakes or flimsy packaging.
- No part number, or one that does not match the maker's catalogue.
- A seller who will not give a receipt or name the brand.
Parts for hybrids, 4x4s and fleets
- Hybrids. Axio, Corolla, Noah and Prius hybrids need the correct inverter coolant, 12 volt batteries and brake parts, and occasionally hybrid battery modules. Tell us the exact model so we match the right parts.
- 4x4s and safari vehicles. Land Cruiser and Prado owners going upcountry often need heavy duty shocks, all terrain tyres, filters and spare belts. We can put together a service kit before a long trip.
- Small fleets. Companies, NGOs and rental owners can send a list of plates and models, and we quote service parts for the whole fleet at once.
How to order

- Confirm, and we deliver anywhere in Kigali, including Remera, Kicukiro, Gikondo, Kimironko, Nyamirambo and Kanombe, or book the fitting with a repair garage.
Parts for the car you plan to buy
If you are thinking of buying a car, parts availability should be part of the decision. A Toyota with easy parts is cheaper to own than a rarer model with a lower price tag. Our cars for sale in Kigali service and car prices in Rwanda guide cover this in more detail.
To order, use the form below. Add the make, model, year and the part, plus the chassis number or a photo of the old part if you can. Need a car while yours is off the road? See car hire in Kigali.
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply genuine parts?
We can source genuine (OEM) parts or quality aftermarket alternatives. Your quote states which is which, with the brand and any warranty, so you can choose. For safety parts such as brakes and steering, we recommend genuine or a well known aftermarket brand.
What information do you need to find the right part?
The make, model and year of your car, and the part you need. The chassis number (VIN), found on the registration card and on a plate in the car, is the most useful detail. A photo of the old part, or its part number, removes any doubt.
Can you fit the part for me?
Yes. We can book the fitting at a garage in Kigali at a time that suits you, so the part and the mechanic arrive together. See our car repair page for how bookings and quotes work.
How long does it take to get a part?
Common service parts for popular Toyotas are often available in Kigali the same or next day. Less common parts may need to come from Nairobi, Dubai or Japan, which takes longer. Your quote gives the expected delivery time before you confirm.
How can I avoid fake parts?
Buy from sources that will name the brand and give a receipt, compare the packaging and part number with the original, and be wary of prices far below the usual range. Counterfeit filters and brake pads look convincing but wear out fast or fail.
Do you source tyres and batteries?
Yes. Tell us the tyre size printed on the sidewall, or the battery size and terminal layout from your current battery, and we will find options at different price points with delivery or fitting.
